Set amid nearly four acres of seclusion on the lush slopes of Nevis, Ouje Mango Rif Huis is a rare architectural statement, an estate of quiet grandeur that transcends its setting. Drawing inspiration from the Cape Dutch wineries of the 18th century, the home’s coral-stone façade and gabled forms rise from the landscape like a living tribute to artisanship. Every arch and plaster detail bears the hand of craftsmen brought from Curaçao, the Dutch Caribbean, their legacy preserved in the home’s sculptural precision and enduring warmth.

Inside, 16-foot ceilings wrapped in bamboo reed and deal timber open to rooms that feel both monumental and deeply personal. The great room anchors the home—a double sitting room with a wood-burning fireplace, dressed in Chelsea Textile hand-embroidered accent cushions from London. Through grand mahogany doors, the great room and adjoining formal dining space spill out to a terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Retractable screens and sea breezes blur the boundary between architecture and nature, while a cool louvered screened porch and library lined in mahogany bookshelves invite moments of stillness. Hand-carved mahogany beds dressed in Colefax & Fowler linens, reclaimed 300-year-old floorboards from Georgia’s Savannah River, mahogany doors and windows, and chandeliers by Tindle and Vaughan of London – all speak to a level of connoisseurship rarely seen in the Caribbean. 

Surrounding it all are the celebrated, perfectly mature gardens of Craig Collins International – a living tapestry of roses, palms, and tropical foliage arranged in secret “garden rooms.” Pathways meander past a hidden spa, outdoor kitchen, and pool pavilion, eventually dissolving into the island’s evergreen forest.
