Pollensa occupies the northeastern corner of Mallorca, where the Serra de Tramuntana mountains meet the agricultural plain of the Raiguer. The old town, with its Roman bridge, weekly Sunday market on the Plaça Major, and the 365-step Calvari staircase, has long attracted a discerning international community without losing its Mallorcan character. It remains one of the island’s most sought-after addresses, valued precisely because it has resisted the overdevelopment that has affected much of the southern coast.
The Sunday market on Plaça Major is a genuine local institution. Restaurants such as La Font del Gall and Clivia draw a loyal clientele year-round. Puerto Pollensa, five minutes by car, provides a marina, beach, and a concentrated strip of waterfront dining. Alcudia’s walled old town and its extensive sandy bay are within fifteen minutes.
Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 65 kilometres from Pollensa, a drive of around 55 to 65 minutes via the Ma-13 motorway. The airport operates direct routes to most major European cities, with particularly strong connections to London, Frankfurt, Barcelona, and Madrid. Barcelona is also reachable by ferry from Palma, with crossings taking between seven and eight hours on overnight services. There is no rail connection to Pollensa itself.
