Soller occupies a broad valley in the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that runs along the northwest coast of Mallorca and holds UNESCO World Heritage status as a cultural landscape. The town has a distinct identity shaped by its relative isolation, its 19th-century citrus-trading wealth, and its Modernista architecture, most visibly in the facade of Sant Bartomeu church and the Banco de Soller building, both designed by a pupil of Gaudí. It remains one of the most architecturally coherent and unhurried towns on the island.

Daily life in Soller centres on Plaça de la Constitució, where the tram to the port departs and the market runs on Saturdays. Ca’n Pintxo and El Guia are established local restaurants. The port, four kilometres away, has a working fishing harbour alongside beach restaurants. Fornalutx, consistently rated among Spain’s most beautiful villages, is a ten-minute drive.

Soller is connected to Palma by the historic narrow-gauge railway, with the journey taking approximately one hour and departing from the town’s own station. By road, Palma is around 30 kilometres via the Ma-11 tunnel, typically 30 to 40 minutes by car. Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 35 kilometres from Soller and handles direct flights to most major European cities, with journey times to London, Paris, and Frankfurt all under three hours.
