Sausset-les-Pins is a small fishing port and residential town on the Côte Bleue, the stretch of coastline west of Marseille that remains one of the least commercialised sections of the French Mediterranean. Protected by a regional marine park, the coastline here retains a character that the more developed Côte d’Azur lost decades ago: rocky calanques, pine-covered hillsides running to the sea, and a working harbour that still lands fish each morning. The town draws a discerning Marseillais clientele who value its relative quiet and genuine Provençal scale.
The harbour front offers several fish restaurants, including Le Clos des Pins and La Pergola, both known for locally caught seafood. A weekly market runs in the town centre. The beaches at Sausset and neighbouring Carry-le-Rouet are within easy reach on foot or by bicycle. Carry-le-Rouet, three kilometres west, adds further dining and shopping options.
Sausset-les-Pins is served by a TER regional rail station with direct trains to Marseille Saint-Charles in approximately 40 minutes, connecting onward to Paris by TGV in around three hours. Marseille Provence Airport at Marignane is roughly 25 kilometres by road, typically 30 minutes by car. The A55 motorway provides direct access to Marseille city centre in under 40 minutes depending on traffic.
