La Solana covers an area of more than 3,000,000 m2. Its topographic survey, in cross-section, shows an initial slope, followed by flat terrain where the old building stands, and then another slope. This unique topography hides the building from any nearby roads, meaning its restoration would have zero visual impact on the landscape. The existing vegetation at La Solana is typical of the Madrid mountains, featuring abundant shrubbery and old trees such as holm oak, ash, and pine. The restoration project is fully compatible with the distribution of every existing specimen on the land, as there are currently clear paths free of trees and notable vegetation near the building involved in the project. The land also has other unique features ideal for restoration. The history of the old building inside is unclear. Based on its construction characteristics, it could date back to the late 19th century, although some parts built on large granite blocks may be much older and have undergone successive expansions over time. During the Spanish Civil War, it is known to have been used as a fort and hospital until it fell into a ruinous state similar to its current condition. The building is quadrangular, made up of several connected but independent blocks of one and two stories, with a large open space inside. The construction is heterogeneous, featuring robust granite structures, stone with mortar, and period brickwork, interspersed with numerous granite openings and thick wooden beams. Remnants of carpentry, several chimneys, and parts of the roofs, which were entirely tiled, are preserved. A few meters from the old building is a large gap in the terrain, perfectly integrated into nature, which was a wolfram mine in the mid-20th century. It is quite long, with its only trace being a large opening with vertical, polished stone walls, from which water flows year-round, forming pools. Its development promises great natural beauty, with the possibility of creating artificial streams and waterfalls. Another unique aspect of La Solana is the spectacular views it offers of the Madrid Sierra. Its topographic features allow for privileged landscape views from any point. The La Solana estate is located in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, 49 km from Madrid city, specifically on the El Escorial - Guadarrama road, bordering the historic and monumental Valley of the Fallen. Its connection to Madrid via the Autovía de la Coruña (A6) allows for quick travel between them, as well as to other interesting towns in the Madrid mountains, ski slopes, Ávila, or Segovia. Access to San Lorenzo de El Escorial, with its rich historical and artistic heritage, is immediate. The land has two different access points from the road and a network of paths and firebreaks sufficient to only require adaptation for transit, without the need to create new roads.
