An architectural mountain compound of five standalone pavilions in the cool cloud forest of Altos del María, offered fully furnished and turnkey, with an established boutique hospitality business.
Nestled in the verdant highlands of Valle de Laurel, VillaHermosa merges antique craftsmanship with natural serenity. Conceived as a multi-structure sanctuary, the estate served as the artisanal testing ground for the colonial brick revival seen in landmarks such as Casco Antiguo’s Hotel La Compañía. Its 2,663 m² (0.66-acre) grounds are bounded by a year-round mountain creek and lush botanical gardens, with brick pathways, moss-covered boulders, towering pines and frequent visits from toucans and monkeys. VillaHermosa works equally well as an executive mountain retreat, a private family compound or a boutique income-generating B&B.
THE FIVE PAVILIONS (496 m² total, built 2015-2021) 1. The Borneo Ironwood Master Suite: a dramatic two-story cabin designed by Panamanian architect Frania Arauz and custom-crafted on the island of Borneo from some of the densest, most durable tropical ironwoods in the world. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames panoramic forest views; the suite includes a private kitchenette, an en-suite bathroom and open-air terraces. 2. The Catalan Guest Pavilion: three independent, private-entry guest suites, each with its own bathroom, crowned with authentic Catalan brick vaults (bóvedas catalanas) hand-laid by Mexican master artisans and opening onto a covered veranda facing the gardens. 3. The Culinary Pavilion: a chef’s kitchen with hand-glazed tilework and a covered dining terrace, roofed with century-old antique clay tiles, with a full bathroom and views over the grounds. 4. The Grand Living & Bar Pavilion: a standalone entertainment hall with soaring Catalan vaulted ceilings, oculus skylights, mosaic lanterns, walls of glass onto the forest and an integrated bar area. 5. The Circular Plaza & Fire Pit: an open-air stone amphitheater under the forest canopy for up to 30 guests, with cushioned curved benches around a central fire pit, a traditional wood-fired clay oven (horno de barro) and a barbecue grill.
SMART ENGINEERING · Zero load-bearing walls: all concrete roof structures rest on perimeter columns and beams, allowing low-cost reconfiguration, for example converting the living pavilion into an additional guest villa or separate rental suites · Externalized water supply lines for easy maintenance and remodeling · Independent septic system for each structure · High-capacity gas generator able to power the entire estate and all air conditioning units
TURNKEY ASSET AND HOSPITALITY BRAND · Sold fully furnished with high-end furniture, complete appliances, lighting and decor (excluding select family art pieces) · Includes the established hospitality business: the @villahermosabyb Instagram profile (about 6,000 followers) and top-rated listings on Airbnb and Expedia · Experienced local estate and maintenance staff can remain in place upon request · Titled property, free of any mortgage
