Sainte-Maxime occupies a privileged position on the northern shore of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, directly facing its more celebrated neighbour across the water. The town has long attracted a discerning residential clientele who value the same quality of light, pine-covered hillsides, and sandy coastline as Saint-Tropez, without the seasonal congestion. Its seafront promenade, the marina, and the old village core give it a coherent, year-round identity that many comparable Var resorts lack.

Daily life centres on the covered market on Rue Fernand Bessy, the restaurants along the port including La Maison Bleue and Le Dauphin, and the beaches of La Nartelle and La Croisette a short drive east. Saint-Tropez is reachable by ferry from the port in approximately 15 minutes.
