Sainte-Maxime occupies a privileged position on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, directly facing its more famous neighbor across the water. The town has long attracted a discerning residential clientele who value the same quality of light, pine-covered hillsides, and deep-blue coastline as Saint-Tropez, without the seasonal congestion. Its seafront promenade, the marina, and the old town centered around the Place Victor Hugo give the town a coherent, unhurried character that holds year-round.
