Gassin occupies a hilltop position above the Golfe de Saint-Tropez, classified among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, a designation that reflects both its architectural integrity and its exceptional setting. The medieval village core is compact and largely pedestrianised, with stone lanes, a Romanesque church, and uninterrupted views across the gulf toward Saint-Tropez and the Maures massif. It sits at roughly 200 metres elevation, which gives it a distinct character from the coastal resorts below.
The village has its own boulangerie, a handful of restaurants including the well-regarded La Verdoyante, and a weekly market. Port Grimaud and the beaches of Pampelonne are within a ten-minute drive. Saint-Tropez itself is approximately fifteen minutes by car, offering the full range of dining, retail, and marina life.
The nearest major transport hub is Toulon-Hyères Airport, roughly 70 kilometres west, with direct flights to Paris and several European cities. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is approximately 100 kilometres east, around 90 minutes by car, and serves an extensive international network. The TGV station at Les Arcs-Draguignan connects to Paris in under four hours and is around 35 kilometres from Gassin.
