Saint-Tropez occupies a singular position on the French Riviera, a small peninsula town in the Var that has carried international cultural weight since the mid-twentieth century. Its identity is built on a genuine tension between a working fishing port with Provençal roots and one of the most recognisable luxury destinations in the world. The old town, with its ochre and terracotta facades rising above the harbour, retains a coherent architectural character that planning controls have largely preserved.

Daily life centres on Place des Lices, the town’s main square, which hosts a market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Key restaurants include Sénéquier on the port, Club 55 and Nikki Beach on Pampelonne, and Vague d’Or at the Résidence de la Pinède. Tahiti Beach and the full stretch of Pampelonne are a short drive south.

Saint-Tropez has no rail connection. The nearest train station is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres away, with regular TGV services to Paris in roughly four hours. A seasonal ferry links the port to Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is around 100 kilometres by road, typically 90 minutes to two hours depending on summer traffic. Toulon-Hyères Airport is closer at roughly 60 kilometres.
