Felanitx is a market town in the southeast of Mallorca, set in a landscape of low hills, vineyards, and almond groves roughly 45 kilometres from Palma. The town has a well-preserved historic centre anchored by the imposing parish church of Sant Miquel, and it retains the working character of an agricultural Mallorcan community. The nearby coastal village of Portocolom, approximately six kilometres east, is one of the most naturally sheltered harbours on the island and has remained relatively low-key compared to the island’s more commercialised resort areas.

Portocolom offers waterfront dining at restaurants including Sa Sinia and Ca’n Pep Mosso, a weekly market in Felanitx town, and direct access to coves such as Cala Marçal and Cala Sa Nau. The larger town of Manacor, with its broader retail and services offer, is around 20 kilometres north.

Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 55 kilometres from Felanitx, reachable in around 45 to 50 minutes by car via the Ma-15 motorway. The airport operates year-round international routes to major European cities, with significantly expanded connections during the summer season. There is no direct rail link to this part of the island, so a car is essential for day-to-day living in this area.
