Melegís is a small agricultural village in the Lecrín Valley, a broad inland valley running south from Granada between the Sierra Nevada and the coastal ranges. The valley is known for its citrus and olive groves, its mild microclimate, and a landscape that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. The villages here, including Melegís, retain the whitewashed Moorish street patterns and irrigation systems that have defined this corner of Andalusia since before the Reconquista.
