Terra Marratxí

Marratxí is a municipality of roughly 40,000 residents situated in the central-western part of Mallorca, between Palma and Inca. It occupies a broad agricultural plain edged by low hills, and its character is defined by a mix of established residential urbanizations, working farmland, and traditional Mallorcan country estates. The area is known for its pottery tradition, particularly in the village of Sa Cabaneta, and offers a quieter, more grounded alternative to the coastal resort towns while remaining closely connected to Palma.

Sa Cabaneta and Pòrtol, the two most active village centres within the municipality, offer local markets, ceramics workshops, and everyday dining. The commercial area along the Palma-Inca road provides supermarkets, garden centres, and retail. Palma’s restaurants, private schools, and medical facilities are under 15 minutes by car.

Palma city centre is approximately 12 kilometres from Marratxí, reachable in around 15 minutes by car via the Ma-13 motorway. Palma de Mallorca Airport is roughly 20 kilometres away, typically a 20 to 25 minute drive. The airport operates year-round international routes to major European cities, with significantly expanded connections from April through October. There is also a regional train line connecting Marratxí to Palma and Inca, with journey times of under 20 minutes to the capital.
