The Centro district is the historic and commercial core of Málaga, a city whose urban identity has shifted considerably over the past two decades from a transit point to a serious cultural destination. The quarter is defined by its dense 19th-century streetscape, the pedestrianised Calle Larios, and proximity to the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre. Plaza de Camas sits within this fabric, close to the covered Atarazanas market and the main retail axis, in a part of the city that draws both residents and visitors year-round.

Daily life in Centro revolves around the Mercado de Atarazanas for fresh produce, and a concentrated dining scene that includes El Pimpi, Uvedoble Taberna, and Kaleja. The Picasso Museum, the Centre Pompidou Málaga, and the Carmen Thyssen Museum are all within a short walk, as is the seafront Paseo del Parque.

Málaga María Zambrano station connects to Madrid by high-speed AVE in under two and a half hours, and to Seville in approximately two hours. The Cercanías suburban rail line links Centro to Málaga Airport in around twelve minutes, with the airport serving over 100 international destinations and handling more than 20 million passengers annually. The A-7 coastal motorway provides direct road access east toward Marbella and west toward the Costa del Sol corridor.
