From the heights of Maiori’s terraced ridges, where lemon groves form golden patterns and the scent of citrus mingles with the sea breeze, the view takes in the sublime beauty of the Amalfi Coast. Dating back to the late Middle Ages, it was once a ‘sedile’, the residence of the aristocrats and officials who governed the coastal community linked to the Duchy of Amalfi, a place of power, vision and protection where small Christian, Muslim and Jewish communities coexisted peacefully. Centuries later, between the 19th and 20th centuries, it became the creative retreat of the painter Gaetano Capone, the founding master of the Scuola dei Costaioli, who found inspiration for his works here, captivated by the light and colours of this unique setting.

Even today, the villa is visible from the centre and the seafront of Maiori, as well as from Ravello and parts of Amalfi: a red dot that stands out against the green of the terraced fields and the blue of the sky.
