Maó, the capital of Menorca, sits at the eastern tip of the island above one of the deepest natural harbours in the Mediterranean, a waterway that has shaped the city’s identity across centuries of British, French, and Spanish rule. Year-round connections to Barcelona take under an hour by air. A regular ferry service from the port connects Maó to Barcelona and Valencia, with crossings taking between five and nine hours depending on the route and vessel.
