Villa A Lucca

Due to its strategic military position and the economic importance of its abundant agricultural and mineral resources, the city of Lucca became a target of dispute and conquest by Pisa, Genoa, and Florence over the years. In 1513, by decree of Pope Leo X, the city and its territory came under the direct control of the State of Florence.
