Hyères occupies a singular position on the French Riviera, set between the Massif des Maures and the Mediterranean coast, with direct access to the Presqu’île de Giens and the ferry routes to the Îles d’Or: Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and the Île du Levant. It is the oldest resort town on the Côte d’Azur, with a medieval old town, a palm-lined promenade, and a landscape that has attracted writers and aristocrats since the nineteenth century. The surrounding AOC Côtes de Provence wine country gives the territory a productive agricultural identity that distinguishes it from its more urbanised neighbours to the east.

Daily life in Hyères centres on the Place Massillon market, the old town’s covered market hall, and the restaurants along the Avenue de Belgique. The Almanarre beach and the salt flats of the Giens peninsula are within a short drive. Toulon, with its broader retail and cultural offer, is approximately 20 kilometres to the west.

Hyères-Toulon Airport (TLN) is located directly within the commune, roughly 3 kilometres from the town centre, with scheduled services to Paris-Orly and several European cities. Toulon-Hyères train station connects to Marseille in under an hour and to Nice in approximately 90 minutes via the coastal TER line. The A57 motorway provides direct road access to Toulon and onward to the A8 corridor linking Marseille and the Italian border.
