Grimaud occupies a privileged position in the Var, set back from the Gulf of Saint-Tropez with views across the bay toward Saint-Tropez itself. The medieval hilltop village, with its Romanesque church and ruined castle, gives the commune a distinct identity that separates it from the more commercialised coastal towns nearby. The lower part of the commune, including the port of Cogolin and the marina at Port Grimaud, extends the range of daily life considerably without sacrificing the area’s residential character.
The Beauvallon golf course is a few minutes by car, and the beaches of Sainte-Maxime are within ten minutes. Port Grimaud offers waterfront restaurants and a weekly market. Saint-Tropez, with its Place des Lices market, restaurants such as Vague d’Or, and the Annonciade museum, is accessible by boat from Port Grimaud or by road in under twenty minutes outside peak season.
The nearest train station is at Les Arcs-Draguignan, approximately 35 kilometres away, with TGV connections to Paris in around four hours. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is roughly 90 kilometres from Grimaud, typically one hour and fifteen minutes by car outside summer traffic. Toulon-Hyères Airport, smaller but useful for regional and some international routes, is around 60 kilometres to the west.
