Aix En Provence (Bouches Du Rhône)

Le Tholonet is a small commune immediately east of Aix-en-Provence, separated from the city by only a few minutes of driving yet defined by an entirely different character. The village sits at the foot of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, the limestone massif that Paul Cézanne painted repeatedly from this precise territory. The landscape here is one of pine forest, red earth, and dry-stone walls, and the area carries a long association with the Provençal aristocracy whose bastides have occupied these hillsides since the seventeenth century.

The Cours Mirabeau, Aix’s central boulevard with its cafés and weekly markets, is under five minutes by car. The covered Marché des Prêcheurs and the daily market on the Place Richelme are both within easy reach. Michelin-recognised dining, including Pierre Reboul and Le Formal, is available in central Aix. The Caumont Centre d’Art and the Musée Granet are both in the city centre.

Aix-en-Provence TGV station, located at the Arbois plateau roughly fifteen minutes by car, connects to Paris Gare de Lyon in approximately three hours. Marseille-Provence Airport at Marignane is around thirty minutes by car and serves a broad network of European and international destinations. Marseille city centre is accessible in under forty minutes by road, and the A8 motorway provides direct access toward Nice and the Italian border.
