Eygalières is one of the most quietly prestigious villages in the Alpilles, a small limestone range that defines the landscape between Arles and Cavaillon. The village sits at the foot of a rocky spur crowned by the ruins of a medieval château, and its narrow lanes of honey-coloured stone have long attracted a discreet international clientele. It carries a reputation for understatement that distinguishes it from the more visited Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, six kilometres to the north.
