Villa, Estepona

Estepona occupies a distinct position on the Costa del Sol, sitting between Marbella to the east and Gibraltar to the southwest, with the Sierra Bermeja mountains rising sharply behind the town. Unlike much of the coast, Estepona has retained a recognisable Andalusian character: its old town, centered on the Plaza de las Flores and the Calle Real, is genuinely well-preserved, with whitewashed facades, tiled streets, and a working fishing port that predates the resort era.

The old town offers daily life at a walkable scale. The Mercado de Abastos on Calle Castillo handles fresh produce and fish. Restaurants worth noting include El Gaviero for seafood and Restaurante Atalaya for contemporary Andalusian cooking. The Paseo Maritimo stretches over two kilometres along the seafront, with beaches directly accessible from the town centre.

Malaga Airport is approximately 85 kilometres east via the AP-7 toll motorway, a journey of around 55 to 65 minutes by car. Gibraltar Airport lies roughly 55 kilometres to the southwest, offering an alternative for European connections. Marbella is 30 kilometres east, reachable in under 30 minutes. There is no direct rail connection to Estepona; the nearest mainline station is in Malaga, making a private vehicle or taxi the standard mode of access.
