Cannes occupies a singular position on the French Riviera, a city whose international reputation rests on the film festival but whose daily reality is that of a well-appointed Mediterranean town with a serious year-round residential culture. Cannes station on the main Marseille to Ventimiglia line connects to Nice in under 40 minutes and to Marseille in roughly 90 minutes.
