Palma is the capital of Mallorca and the administrative centre of the Balearic Islands, a city of genuine architectural weight and Mediterranean sophistication. There is no high-speed rail connection to the Spanish mainland, making the airport the primary international gateway. Inter-island ferry services to Ibiza, Menorca, and the mainland operate from the port adjacent to the city centre.
