Callian is a medieval hilltop village in the Var department, set within the Pays de Fayence area of inland Provence, roughly 30 kilometres north of Cannes. The village retains its original concentric layout of stone lanes, vaulted passages, and a 16th-century château that anchors the upper village. The surrounding landscape is defined by oak and pine forest, olive groves, and open garrigue, giving this part of the Var a markedly different character from the coastal strip: quieter, greener, and considerably more private.

The Pays de Fayence cluster of villages, including Fayence, Tourrettes, and Seillans, provides the practical infrastructure for daily life: weekly markets, boulangeries, butchers, and restaurants such as Le France in Fayence. Cannes is around 35 minutes by car, and Monaco is reachable in roughly 75 minutes. The nearest train station with regular TGV connections is at Les Arcs-Draguignan, approximately 40 minutes to the west, linking to Paris in around three and a half hours.
