This luxurious oceanfront retreat located a few doors north of Big Sur’s world renowned Esalen Institute offers dramatic whitewater views amidst an extraordinary landscape design by the celebrated artist & landscape designer Bernard Trainor. Upon entrance, one enters the massive elegant great room with its soaring exposed beam ceiling and walls of glass for taking in some of the most gorgeous views on the coast of Big Sur. The expansive minimalist design features twin oceanfront decks on each floor allowing one to completely immerse in the strikingly beautiful setting indoors or outdoors in total comfort. A rotating wood fired stove anchors the enormous living room which is shared with one of the larger open kitchens on the coast. The private primary bedroom with fireplace is accessed from the living room and downstairs one finds two more bedrooms and a bath, along with a smaller cozy living room with decks on each side. Some of Big Sur’s most exquisite stone paths and stairways provide access to the extensive lush native gardens and a multitude of lovingly designed natural spaces for life to unfold. The favorite is the garden spa with sauna, copper tubs, and the rock shower. All of this is accessed by a private driveway which leads to Hwy One and the rest of the world.
