Benahavís occupies a privileged position in the western Costa del Sol, set in the foothills of the Serranía de Ronda above Marbella and San Pedro de Alcántara. The municipality is consistently ranked among the wealthiest per capita in Spain, defined by its concentration of private golf courses, gated residential estates, and a village centre known for its restaurant-lined main street. The AP-7 toll motorway provides the fastest route and is accessible from San Pedro de Alcántara, five minutes from the lower reaches of the municipality.
