Saint-Raphaël sits at the western edge of the Esterel Massif, where the Var coast gives way to a dramatic landscape of volcanic red porphyry cliffs dropping into the Mediterranean. The town has been a destination since the Belle Époque, when the railway brought Parisian society south, and the legacy of that era is still visible in the seafront architecture and the casino district. The Anthéor sector, set within the protected Esterel coastline, offers some of the most striking coastal scenery on the entire Côte d’Azur.

The old port area of Saint-Raphaël has a daily market, a strong restaurant scene along the Promenade René Coty, and direct beach access. Fréjus, with its Roman amphitheatre and broader retail offer, is five minutes by car. The Esterel Massif offers marked hiking and cycling trails directly from the coast road.

Saint-Raphaël has a mainline TGV station with direct services to Paris in approximately three hours and to Marseille in under ninety minutes. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 55 kilometres east, reachable in around fifty minutes by car outside peak season. The A8 motorway connects the town to Cannes in thirty minutes and to the Italian border in under two hours.
