Tenuta Vinicola Centenaria Con 34,5 Ettari Ad Alenquer, Lisbona

The ’Quinta da Encosta dos Vinháticos’ is located in the Alenquer region, very close to Lisbon. This is a centennial estate, covering a total area of 34.5 hectares, consisting of slopes planted with vineyards 80% red grape varieties and 20% white grape varieties. It is worth noting that the average production over the last five years was 190,000 kg of grapes from 22.3 hectares, of which 3.15 hectares are newly planted vineyards.

The estate includes manor houses and other buildings in need of restoration and partial rehabilitation, featuring typical architecture from the late 16th to early 17th century. One of the highlights is the magnificent wrought-iron gate, symbolizing the estate’s aristocratic and bourgeois characteristics, which has been managed by a traditional family-owned company for five generations.

Currently, the Quinta hosts a project that vinifies only grapes from its own production. Over the past 15 years, the entire vineyard has been replanted. In 2004, the winery that has always served the estate was fully renovated with the most modern equipment, ensuring that the quality of the grapes is maximally preserved when transformed into premium wine.

The vineyard has always been meticulously managed, focusing on achieving the best aromas and flavors for each grape variety. Various viticultural techniques have been employed to enhance the flavors necessary to create the final blend for each wine.

Walking through the vineyards of Quinta da Encosta dos Vinháticos, the difference is immediately noticeable. Cultivated with passion and a unique vision, the three training methods used in the vineyard contribute to achieving exceptional quality in every harvest.

Every year, these wines receive excellent ratings under the brand ’Quinta da Cortesia’ in prestigious competitions and specialized publications worldwide. This brand represents the highest quality wines, aged in new French oak barrels and frequently featured on the wine lists of some of the world’s finest restaurants, such as Alain Ducasse at The Essex House in New York.

The other wines belong to the more competitive yet award-winning ’Vinha Conchas’ range. At the lower part of the slope, the estate features a water tank, a small vaulted chapel, and a caretaker’s house. There is also a natural spring, an artesian well, and mature trees surrounding the manor houses and support buildings. The property has electricity, good road access, excellent views, and outstanding sun exposure.
