This grand home includes 5 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths among its nearly 4,000 sf of large rooms and openings, gracious spaces, covered porches on both levels, patio areas and three en suite bedrooms of full baths. Make it your home and stage it to accommodate 10 guests comfortably as a perfect Air BNB. Bordered with 6 acres on the north by the stately North Alexander Street School built in 1896 and a sweeping 46-acre park setting of Confederate General Alexander Porter’s family home wrapping the property to the east and south - privacy from green spaces no fence could replicate. All of this a short 2-block stroll into downtown Washington, the first City in America named for George Washington! The master bath includes an antique claw-foot soaking tub, glass enclosed shower, and a walk-in closet. Modern kitchen features have been thoughtfully integrated with the home’s 200 year old origins creating a chef-ready center island kitchen with gas cooktop, double wall ovens, two sink work areas, and French door refrigeration. The gracious spaces, covered porches on both levels, patio areas and three en suite bedrooms of full baths also make this a perfect home to AirBNB. Washington has a thriving market for short term rentals, with many homes like this earning at $400-$600 per night with frequent and repeat stays. The week of the Masters Golf Tournament, UGA Home games, destination weddings and regional festivals mean full bookings! A separate 450 sf cottage workshop includes a full bath and plumbing rough-in for a kitchenette, making it a possible turnkey addition for rental income. The home and yard feel especially private, bordered with 6 acres on the north by the stately North Alexander Street School built in 1896 (a classical work by 1800s architect R. H. Hunt), and a sweeping 46-acre park setting of Confederate General Alexander Porter’s family home wraps around the property to the east and south, giving green space privacy a fence could not replicate. A 12 x 12 south-facing stone patio with outdoor fireplace provides more seasonal living space. Mature plantings and landscaping, including many native plants and numerous fruit trees. Other features of the home include: Expansive lower level wrap around porch with room for swings, rockers and day beds. A generous second story covered balcony opens from the upstairs hallway, offering a quiet, treetop retreat. Great wood workings and beautiful details throughout.
