Pollensa occupies the northeastern corner of Mallorca, where the Serra de Tramuntana mountains meet the agricultural plain of the Raiguer. The old town, built around a Roman bridge and a hilltop Calvary with 365 steps, has retained its character as a working Mallorcan community rather than a purely tourist destination. Its weekly Sunday market, medieval street plan, and stone architecture give it a cultural weight that distinguishes it from the resort towns along the coast.
The old town offers Cafe Espanyol and La Fonda on the central Plaça Major for daily life. Puerto Pollensa, roughly five kilometres away, provides the beach, the marina, and restaurants including Stay and Il Giardino. Alcudia’s walled medieval centre and its large Tuesday and Sunday market are under fifteen minutes by car.
Pollensa sits approximately sixty kilometres north of Palma, connected via the MA-13 motorway, making the drive to Palma city centre around fifty minutes in normal traffic. Palma de Mallorca Airport, the main international gateway for the Balearic Islands, is approximately sixty-five kilometres away, roughly fifty-five to sixty minutes by car. The airport operates year-round routes to major European cities, with significantly expanded connections from April through October.
