Santa Margalida is a municipality in the north of Mallorca, roughly 45 kilometres from Palma, occupying a broad, flat stretch of the Pla de Mallorca plain. The area divides naturally between the inland market town of Santa Margalida itself and two coastal settlements, Can Picafort and Son Serra de Marina, both fronting the Bay of Alcúdia. The landscape is agricultural and open, with long sightlines across cultivated fields toward the Serra de Tramuntana to the west and the bay to the north.

Can Picafort offers supermarkets, restaurants, and a marina along its seafront promenade. Son Serra de Marina is quieter, with direct beach access and a handful of local bars. The town of Santa Margalida has a weekly market and everyday services. The S’Albufera natural park, one of the most significant wetland reserves in the Balearics, borders the municipality to the west.

Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 50 kilometres away, around 45 to 50 minutes by car via the Ma-13 motorway. The port of Alcúdia, serving ferry connections to Ciutadella in Menorca, is roughly 15 kilometres from Can Picafort. Palma city centre is accessible in under an hour by car, providing access to international schools, private hospitals, and the full range of services the island capital offers.
