A top-floor residence in Samedan by Hans-Jörg Ruch, with three en-suite bedrooms and a panoramic terrace. Hans-Jörg Ruch, among the most recognised figures in contemporary Alpine architecture, designed the top-floor residence on Via Crusch, in the Crusch district of Samedan. From its elevated position, the apartment of approximately 160 m² looks out across the Engadine landscape without interruption. Arrival is direct, by staircase or by lift. The plan is organised around an open living space anchored by a central fireplace and in continuous dialogue with a contemporary integrated kitchen. Wide-format glazing draws the landscape inside and fills the rooms with natural light, and the living area opens directly onto a generous panoramic terrace. The sleeping area is clearly separated from the shared spaces. Three bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, complete the residence. Materials, proportions and detailing follow Ruch’s essentialist approach, in which a modern Alpine vocabulary meets a restrained contemporary sensibility, and underfloor heating runs throughout. Two covered garage spaces are included. Samedan is one of the most established villages of the Upper Engadine, a few minutes from St. Moritz, and from this elevated position light, view and landscape meet.
