Saint-Tropez occupies a singular position in the French Riviera, a former fishing village on the Var coast that has become one of the most recognised addresses in the world without losing the physical character that made it desirable in the first place. The old port, the Place des Lices with its twice-weekly market, the narrow lanes of the historic centre, and the Citadelle overlooking the bay remain intact. The town draws an international clientele while retaining a scale and identity that larger Riviera cities cannot replicate.

Daily life centres on the Place des Lices market on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the port-side cafés along the Quai Jean Jaurès, and restaurants including Vague d’Or at the Résidence de la Pinède and La Vague at Byblos. The beaches of Pampelonne are a fifteen-minute drive south. Ramatuelle and Gassin are within ten minutes by car.

Saint-Tropez has no train station. The nearest rail connection is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres west, with TGV services to Paris in roughly four hours. Les Bateaux Verts operates seasonal ferry links to Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is the primary international gateway, located around 100 kilometres east, with a drive of approximately 90 minutes depending on traffic. Toulon-Hyères Airport is closer at around 60 kilometres.
