Saint-Tropez occupies a singular position on the Côte d’Azur, a small peninsula town that has maintained its identity as both a working fishing port and one of the most internationally recognised addresses in Europe. The old town, with its ochre and terracotta facades around the Place des Lices and the Vieux Port, retains a genuinely Provençal character that distinguishes it from the more built-up resorts to the east. The surrounding hillsides and the Massif des Maures provide a landscape context that feels removed from the broader French Riviera.

Daily life centres on the Marché de la Place des Lices on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, the quayside restaurants along the Vieux Port, and beaches including Pampelonne, roughly five kilometres south. Restaurants such as Sénéquier, Club 55, and Vague d’Or define the dining landscape. The town is walkable at its core, with most errands and social life concentrated within a compact area.

Saint-Tropez has no direct rail connection. The nearest train station is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres away, with regular services to Nice, Marseille, and Paris via TGV. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is the primary gateway, roughly 100 kilometres by road, typically 90 minutes to two hours depending on seasonal traffic. Helicopter transfers from Nice to Saint-Tropez take approximately 30 minutes and are widely used during summer.
