This beautiful house at Villagatan 15 was built in 1930, on plot number 3 in the Lommen quarter. This beautiful house at Villagatan 15 was built in 1930, on plot number 3 in the Lommen quarter. The original drawings from 1930 already reveal a carefully considered architectural vision, designed by architect Charles Petri Elmström, who was active in north-western Skåne and left a distinctive mark on the residential architecture of the 1930s.

The house was conceived as an elegant and prestigious family home, with generous proportions, spacious reception rooms and an attention to detail that is difficult to recreate today. The positioning of the windows was carefully composed to complement the architecture and maximise the flow of natural light, while many of the house’s details form a consistent design language throughout. A closer look at the original drawings reveals this beautifully: the shape of the fence is echoed in the balcony railing and repeated again in the staircase balustrades and other architectural details.

The floor plan shown in the original 1930s drawings also tells the story of its time. The upper floor included both a maid’s room and a nursery adjoining the bedrooms, while separate rooms were dedicated to the various functions of the household – including a ladies’ sitting room and a gentlemen’s room. It offers a fascinating glimpse into how an affluent family home was planned almost a century ago.

Since 1977, when the property changed hands, it has remained in the same family. This means that only two families have called the house home during its nearly one-hundred-year history. Children have grown up here, everyday life has unfolded and generations of memories have been created. It is easy to imagine summer evenings in the garden, children running between the main house and the outbuilding, and all the ordinary days and special occasions that together have made this house a home.

During the almost fifty years the family has lived here, the house has also been adapted to suit a more contemporary way of family life. The former dining room was transformed into the kitchen, creating a more natural and sociable layout for modern living.

The outbuilding has also evolved over time. What was originally shown on the 1930 drawings as a garage and playhouse has gradually been converted into a guest house and storage space – another example of how the property has adapted to the family’s changing needs over the years without losing its original soul.

This is not a house that calls for complete transformation, but rather a home that deserves thoughtful and sensitive refinement. With the right care and respect for its architecture, there is a rare opportunity to bring its original qualities to the fore while creating a modern home for the future.

The property is in need of some exterior and technical improvements, as well as interior updates. Yet the qualities that cannot be recreated are already here: the proportions, the architecture and the inherent sense of quality.

The generous 1,115 sq m plot offers plenty of space for garden life, entertaining and future dreams.

After almost a century, the time has come for the next family to continue its story.

A warm welcome to Forsbergs hus – a home to cherish, thoughtfully refine and preserve for generations to come.
