2. Architectural Vision & Design

●What were the key design principles you followed when building this house?

Optimise surface and volume, so to have it most compact possible

●Are there any unique or hidden details in the design?

Walls are 50 cm and guarantee perfect climate in Summer and winter. The heating/cooling

system is hidden the floor. In the Summer we can have 12 degrees lesser than outside thanks

to a dehumidifier. We go 220 m deep in the earth, we take the warmth in winter, we give it back

in Summer. All this works with fotovoltaic panels and batteries where accumulate the sun

energy

●What was the biggest challenge in building this house, and how did you overcome it?

I had to keep 10 meters from the trees and 3.5 from the boarder: I didn’t have a lot, so I used

anything possible to plan and this L house is the result

●Did you draw inspiration from Lugano’s landscape, architecture, or culture?

From culture.

Simple lines, volume adapted to trees, soften colors

Breakfast in the garden

The proximity to the forest and a little river: it brings birds sounds, leave sounds, water sound

and freshness

●How does the house feel throughout the seasons?

Inside we have constant temperature all the year. In Summerwe use wood for bbq, in Winter for

chimney.

Everyone has place to stay with others or alone, constant climate during the year, very low

energy consumption.

Family with 1-2 kids, 2 adults that wants have a house with an office or guests

All around the kitchen

●What do you love most about living in Lugano?

It’s safe, there is everything, good culture and festivals offers, surrounded by nature and lakes.

Sea is at 2 hours ride. Public transport is good. Airports at 2 hours distance.

●What are the best nearby places for dining, leisure, or nature?

Lugano, Locarno and Como (Italy) offer a lot for dining and leisure. Nature: going North to the

mountains it’s spectacular

●What makes this area unique compared to other parts of Switzerland

Our southern culture, more sun and the fact that we are a minority makes us more open and

flexible
