Pollença sits at the northern tip of Mallorca, framed by the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and the calm waters of the Bay of Pollença. It is one of the island’s most culturally intact towns, with a Roman bridge, a medieval parish church on the Plaça Major, and a 365-step Calvari staircase that defines the town’s skyline. The architecture is predominantly local stone, and the town has resisted the overdevelopment that has affected much of the island’s coastline.

The weekly Sunday market on Plaça Major is a genuine local institution. Restaurants such as La Fonda and Il Giardino serve year-round residents as well as visitors. Port de Pollença, the town’s marina and beach strip, is a ten-minute drive. Alcúdia’s walled old town and its large sandy beach are within fifteen minutes.

Palma de Mallorca is approximately 55 kilometres south, reachable in under an hour by car via the Ma-13 motorway. Palma Airport handles direct flights to most major European cities, with journey times of two to three hours to London, Paris, and Frankfurt. The airport is roughly one hour from Pollença by car. There is no rail connection to the north of the island, so a car is essential for daily life.
