Plaça Major is the historic central square of Palma’s old town, a broad, arcaded space framed by ochre facades and lined with covered walkways that have defined civic life in the city for centuries. The surrounding streets of the Centre quarter, including Carrer de Sant Miquel and Carrer de la Unió, are dense with Gothic and Baroque architecture, independent boutiques, and the kind of unhurried street life that comes from living at the genuine heart of a Mediterranean city.

Daily essentials are on foot: the Mercat de l’Olivar is a ten-minute walk for fresh produce, fish, and charcuterie. Restaurants including Marc Fosh on Carrer de la Missió and Ca’n Joan de S’Aigo, one of Palma’s oldest cafés, are within a few minutes. The Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Almudaina Palace are a short walk south.

Palma Airport is approximately twelve kilometres from the city centre, reachable in around twenty minutes by taxi or the Airport Express bus from Plaça d’Espanya, which is itself a ten-minute walk from Plaça Major. The port of Palma, serving regular ferry connections to Barcelona, Valencia, and Ibiza, is under two kilometres away. Palma’s train and metro hub at Plaça d’Espanya provides regional rail links across Mallorca.
