Marratxí is a municipality that sits between Palma and the Serra de Tramuntana, occupying a position that gives it a distinctly different character from the coastal resorts of Mallorca. Its villages, particularly Pòrtol and Sa Cabaneta, are known for their traditional pottery craft and low-density rural landscape. The terrain rises gently, offering open sightlines across the Bay of Palma, and the built environment remains predominantly low-rise, with generous plot sizes that preserve a sense of space and privacy.

Sa Cabaneta has a small but well-regarded local market and several traditional Mallorcan restaurants.
