Le Muy is a market town in the central Var, positioned at the point where the Argens valley opens toward the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. It sits at the edge of the Massif des Maures and the Esterel foothills, giving the surrounding landscape a distinctly inland Provençal character: scrubland, vineyards, and cork oak forest. The town retains a working agricultural identity that distinguishes it from the more tourist-oriented coastal communes a short drive to the south.
Le Muy’s weekly market runs on Thursdays. The town has a reasonable selection of everyday services, bakeries, and restaurants. Sainte-Maxime, with its waterfront restaurants, port, and beach clubs, is approximately 20 kilometres south. Les Arcs-sur-Argens, the main wine-trading hub of the central Var, is around 10 kilometres west.
Le Muy sits directly at the junction of the A8 autoroute and the RN7, placing Cannes within roughly 45 minutes by car and Nice within one hour. The TGV station at Les Arcs-sur-Argens, approximately 10 kilometres away, connects to Paris Gare de Lyon in around three and a half hours. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport, the primary international gateway for the region, is approximately 70 kilometres east, reachable in under an hour outside peak summer traffic.
