Gassin is one of the most distinguished perched villages in the Var, classified among the Plus Beaux Villages de France and sitting at roughly 200 metres above sea level on the Saint-Tropez peninsula. The medieval core is compact and largely pedestrianised, with stone lanes, vaulted passages, and uninterrupted views across the Gulf of Saint-Tropez toward the Maures massif. It carries a quieter, more residential character than its famous neighbour, attracting buyers who want proximity to Saint-Tropez without the seasonal intensity.
The village has a small weekly market and a handful of restaurants including La Verdoyante, known for traditional Provençal cooking. Saint-Tropez is approximately 8 kilometres by road, with Port Grimaud and Cogolin each within 10 minutes by car. The beaches of Pampelonne are reachable in roughly 15 minutes.
The nearest train station is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres away, with direct TGV connections to Marseille and Paris. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is around 90 kilometres from Gassin, typically a 75 to 90 minute drive depending on traffic. Toulon-Hyères Airport offers a closer alternative at roughly 60 kilometres, with domestic and select European routes.
