This place is now a Historical Residence along the Saint Francis Walk. A historical residence in Lazio, it is a heritage of beauty. A place brought back to life after a long restoration, which has maintained and enhanced its original historical appearance.
Located in a private park of 4 hectares, it has a parking area for over 100 cars and an approved project for helicopter parking.
The flats are all equipped with a kitchenette, refrigerator and private bathroom with shower or bathtub (also hydro-massage), hairdryer and underfloor heating. Breakfast is included. Some have working fireplaces and frescoes that give the rooms an old-world charm. The materials, skilfully used by local craftsmen, are all valuable and respect the context.
The complex, the grandest conventual monument that the surroundings of Rieti can boast, represents a fusion of Gothic and Romanesque styles, and is built according to the typical plan of the abbeys of the Cistercian Order of the 13th century, with a large church in the shape of a Latin cross and with chapels adjacent to the choir. In fine weather it is possible to enjoy the enchanting view over the Sacred Rieti Valley, under the fragrant pergola of strawberry grapes; in the winter evenings one can sit inside to warm oneself in front of the large fireplace. A place immersed in nature, ’below the snows and above the fogs, guarding the Rieti plain’.
This magnificent structure regains the splendour that belonged to it and that for hundreds of years had been hidden by the neglect of time, ivy and brambles.

The territorial abbey of Santa Maria di Grottaferrata (Latin: Abbatia territorialis B. Mariae Cryptaeferratae), also known as the Greek Abbey of San Nilo,[1][2] is a see of the Byzantine Catholic Church in Italy belonging to the ecclesiastical region Lazio. In 2019 it had 6 baptised people out of 6 inhabitants. The see is vacant.
The monks of the Exarchic Monastery, forming the Italian Congregation of Basilian Monks (O. S. B. I.), are mostly from the Italo-Albanian communities and practise liturgy and tradition according to the Byzantine rite. Today, Grottaferrata Abbey is the last of the many Byzantine monasteries that were spread throughout southern Italy and the Roman capital itself in the Middle Ages. It is also unique in that, founded fifty years before the schism that led to the separation of the Churches of Rome and Constantinople, it has always been in communion with the Bishop of Rome, while preserving the Byzantine-Greek rite and the Eastern monastic tradition of its origins.

Questo luogo è oggi una Residenza d’Epoca lungo il Cammino di Francesco. Dimora storica del Lazio, è un patrimonio di bellezza. Un luogo riportato alla luce dopo un lungo restauro, che ha mantenuto e valorizzato il suo aspetto storico originale.
Situata in un parco privato di 4 ettari ,un parcheggio di oltre 100 auto ed un progetto approvato per parcheggio elicottero.
Gli appartamenti sono tutti dotati di un angolo cottura, frigorifero e bagno privato con doccia o vasca (anche idromassaggio), asciugacapelli e riscaldamento a pavimento. La colazione è compresa. Alcuni presentano camini funzionanti e affreschi che donano all’ambiente un fascino d’altri tempi. I materiali, sapientemente impiegati dagli artigiani locali, sono tutti di pregio e rispettano il contesto.
Il complesso, il più grandioso monumento conventuale che i dintorni di Rieti possano vantare, rappresenta una fusione tra stile gotico e romanico, è costruito secondo la pianta tipica delle abbazie dell’Ordine Cistercense del XIII secolo, con grande chiesa a croce latina e con le cappelle adiacenti il coro. Nella bella stagione è possibile godere dell’incantevole panorama sulla Valle Santa reatina, sotto il profumato pergolato d’uva fragola, nelle serate d’inverno ci si accomoda all’interno, per riscaldarsi davanti al grande camino. Un luogo immerso nella natura, “al disotto delle nevi e al disopra delle nebbie, a guardia della pianura reatina”.
Questa magnifica struttura si ritrova lo splendore che le apparteneva e che per centinaia di anni era stato nascosto dall’incuria del tempo, da edera e rovi.
Le opere di restauro sono state eseguite a partire dal 1996

I monaci del Monastero esarchico, formanti la Congregazione d’Italia dei monaci basiliani (O. S. B. I.), sono provenienti maggiormente dalle comunità italo-albanesi e praticano liturgia e tradizione secondo il rito bizantino. Attualmente l’Abbazia di Grottaferrata è l’ultimo dei numerosi monasteri bizantini che nel Medioevo erano diffusi in tutta l’Italia meridionale e nella stessa capitale romana. Costituisce inoltre un unicum in quanto, fondato cinquanta anni prima dello scisma che portò alla separazione delle Chiese di Roma e Costantinopoli, è sempre stato in comunione con il Vescovo di Roma, pur conservando il rito bizantino-greco e la tradizione monastica orientale delle origini.

Ein Ort, der nach einer langen Restaurierung wieder zum Leben erweckt wurde, wobei sein ursprüngliches historisches Erscheinungsbild erhalten und aufgewertet wurde.
Es befindet sich in einem 4 Hektar großen Privatpark und verfügt über einen Parkplatz für mehr als 100 Autos und ein genehmigtes Projekt für einen Hubschrauberparkplatz.
Die Wohnungen sind alle mit einer Kochnische, einem Kühlschrank und einem eigenen Bad mit Dusche oder Badewanne (auch mit Hydromassage), Haartrockner und Fußbodenheizung ausgestattet. Das Frühstück ist inbegriffen. Einige verfügen über funktionierende Kamine und Fresken, die den Zimmern einen altmodischen Charme verleihen. Die von den örtlichen Handwerkern verwendeten Materialien sind allesamt wertvoll und respektieren den Kontext.
Der Komplex, das größte klösterliche Bauwerk in der Umgebung von Rieti, stellt eine Verschmelzung von Gotik und Romanik dar und ist nach dem typischen Grundriss der Zisterzienserabteien des 13. Jahrhunderts erbaut, mit einer großen Kirche in Form eines lateinischen Kreuzes und mit Kapellen neben dem Chor. Bei schönem Wetter kann man unter der duftenden Pergola aus Erdbeertrauben die bezaubernde Aussicht auf das Heilige Rieti-Tal genießen; an den Winterabenden kann man sich drinnen vor dem großen Kamin aufwärmen. Ein Ort inmitten der Natur, ”unterhalb des Schnees und oberhalb der Nebel, der die Rieti-Ebene bewacht”.
Dieses prächtige Bauwerk erstrahlt wieder in dem Glanz, der ihm einst eigen war und der jahrhundertelang durch die Vernachlässigung der Zeit, Efeu und Brombeeren verborgen war.
Die Restaurierungsarbeiten werden seit 1996 durchgeführt.
Eines der interessantesten und außergewöhnlichsten Projekte, die jemals in der Provinz Rieti durchgeführt wurden.
