La propriété comprend 3 bâtiments, parfaisant une surface de 6 500 m2, dont le cloître, l`église, le réfectoire des moines, une petite chapelle attenante aux cellules des moines, ainsi qu`une grande terrasse d’angle du XVIIe siècle avec une vue magnifique sur Mondego. Des azulejos baroques recouvrent une grande partie du bâtiment et un tableau du peintre André Gonçalves daté de 1751 y est exposé.
Bien que la fondation du monastère de S. Jorge soit entourée d`un certain mystère, des légendes miraculeuses le datent du XIe siècle, mi-XIIe siècle. Il était habité par les chanoines réguliers de Saint Augustin, à l`exception de la période entre le XVIe et le XVIIIe siècle, lorsqu’il était occupé par les Jésuites. Cependant, le monastère restera la possession des Augustins jusqu`en 1834, date à laquelle l`extinction des ordres religieux dicte le transfert de la propriété et du monastère entre les mains de particuliers, entamant un chemin de dégradation grave et progressive du bâtiment, qui le conduira à un état de ruine presque complète.
En 1999, l`entreprise Mosteiro de S. Jorge Construções Lda acquiert la propriété, entamant une vaste et complexe campagne de construction, en vue de l`adapter aux besoins de l`École universitaire Vasco de Gama, une institution qui y a fonctionné jusqu`à la fin 2013.
La propriété est très intéressante pour un investissement touristique de par sa situation, sa surface bâtie, ainsi que de par sa valeur historique, architecturale et paysagère.

The urban part of the property has a built volume of about 6.500 sqm, divided into three distinct units, with a special emphasis on the cloister, the church, the refectory of the friars, a small chapel next to the cell of the monks, as well as a large 17th century corner balcony with a magnificent view of the Mondego River, baroque tiles present in much of the building and a painting by André Gonçalves dated from 1751.
Although the foundation of the Monastery of São Jorge is involved in some mystery, miraculous legends place it in the beginning of the XI century and in the middle of the next century it was inhabited by the regular canons of Saint Augustine.
Except for the period between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, when it was in the hands of the Jesuits, the monastery would remain in the possession of the Augustinian until 1834, date when the extinction of the religious orders dictated the passage of the Farm and the monastery to the hand of private individuals, starting a path of a slow and progressive degradation of the building, which would lead to a state of almost complete ruin.
In 1999 the society Mosteiro de S. Jorge Construções Ltd acquired the Farm, starting a vast and complex campaign of works, with the aim of its adaptation to the needs of the University School Vasco da Gama, institution that worked there until late 2013.
