Cannes occupies a singular position on the French Riviera, a city whose international reputation rests on more than its famous film festival. The Boulevard de la Croisette, the city’s defining axis, runs along a broad sandy bay framed by the Esterel hills to the west and the Lérins Islands offshore. The city combines a working port, a serious retail and dining culture, and a concentration of grand palace hotels that have defined Mediterranean luxury for well over a century.

Cannes is served by its own train station on the main Marseille to Ventimiglia line, with direct TGV connections to Paris in approximately five hours and frequent regional services to Nice in around 30 minutes. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 26 kilometres east, accessible in 30 to 40 minutes by car or via a combination of train and shuttle, and operates direct routes to most major European cities and intercontinental destinations.
