Campos is a quiet agricultural municipality in the southern interior of Mallorca, set on a flat plain that opens toward the coast of the Migjorn. It retains a distinctly local character, with a working market town centre built around the parish church of Sant Julià and streets lined with traditional Mallorcan stone architecture. The surrounding countryside is defined by dry-stone walls, almond groves, and salt flats, giving this part of the island a landscape and pace that differs markedly from the busier resort areas to the north.

The weekly market on Thursdays and Saturdays draws locals and residents from across the south. The town has a good selection of everyday services, bakeries, and cafes. The beaches of Es Trenc and Sa Ràpita are within ten minutes by car, and the historic town of Santanyí is roughly fifteen minutes east.

Palma is approximately 40 kilometres to the northwest, reachable in around 35 to 40 minutes by car via the Ma-19. Palma de Mallorca Airport sits roughly 35 kilometres away, a journey of around 30 minutes, with direct connections to most major European cities and year-round scheduled services to Madrid and Barcelona. The south of Mallorca has no rail connection, so a car is essential for daily life in Campos.
