Deià is one of the most distinctive villages on the Mallorcan coast, occupying a steep hillside on the northwestern shore where the Serra de Tramuntana mountains meet the sea. Sóller is reachable in around 15 minutes by car and connects to Palma via a historic narrow-gauge railway, with the journey taking approximately one hour. By road, Palma is roughly 30 kilometres from Deià, typically a 40 to 50 minute drive depending on the route through the mountains. Palma de Mallorca Airport handles direct flights to most major European cities, with journey times from the airport to Deià running approximately one hour.
