Antibes occupies a singular position on the Côte d’Azur, sitting between Cannes and Nice on a peninsula that has drawn settlers since the ancient Greeks founded Antipolis here. The old town, enclosed by Vauban’s seventeenth-century ramparts above the Mediterranean, retains a working authenticity that its neighbours have largely lost. Cap d’Antibes, the wooded headland to the south, remains one of the most coveted addresses on the French Riviera, defined by grand villas, pine forests, and direct access to the sea.

The Marché Provençal on Cours Masséna runs every morning except Monday and is the practical centre of daily life in the old town. Restaurant Le Vauban and Chez Lulu are reliable local addresses. The beaches of La Garoupe and Juan-les-Pins are within a short drive, and Port Vauban, one of Europe’s largest yacht harbours, is central to the town.

Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 25 kilometres from Antibes, reachable in around 30 minutes by car or via the TER regional train from Antibes station, which connects to Nice in roughly 30 minutes. Cannes is 15 minutes by train. The TGV from Nice reaches Paris in under six hours, and Monaco is approximately 45 minutes by road.
