In a privileged location between Llucmajor and Algaida, in the heart of the Randa valleys, lies Son Reus de Randa – a historic estate with documented roots dating back to the early sixteenth century. Once known as Torre d’en Reus, the property was for centuries a self-sufficient estate with its own production of wine, olive oil and agricultural products, as well as an exceptional irrigation system.
The three-story main house preserves the authentic architecture of large Mallorcan fincas, featuring approximately eight to ten bedrooms, spacious living areas, four bathrooms, two kitchens, and original stone arches. Terraces and courtyards create seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. The south-facing facade, with its historic entrance portal (1776), balcony, and sundial, underscores the property’s stately character.
Particularly rare are the fully preserved historical production areas: a large wine cellar with high-capacity barrels, a monumental multi-chamber barrel building, a traditional olive oil mill, a wood-fired oven, and rooms for the production of regional specialties such as sobrasada.
The extensive property includes arable land and scrubland, well-tended gardens, fruit and vegetable gardens, stables, and a section of Puig de Randa with breathtaking panoramic views. A significant cultural heritage feature is the water system with a large cistern, an active well, and one of the longest documented qanats in Mallorca—ideal conditions for self-sufficiency.
The buildings are in excellent condition; the structure and roofs have been carefully maintained. The property is occupied and conveys an authentic, vibrant atmosphere.
Despite the absolute tranquility, there are excellent transport links: just a few minutes to Llucmajor and about thirty-five minutes to the island’s capital, Palma.
Son Reus de Randa is an exceptional property with history, substance and soul — ideal as a prestigious country estate,a multi-generational family home or a sustainable living project.
Algaida is a small, unhurried Mallorcan town sitting at the geographic heart of the island, surrounded by agricultural plains and the distinctive limestone outcrop of Puig de Randa. The municipality retains a working rural character that has largely resisted the coastal development pressures felt elsewhere on Mallorca. Stone farmhouses, dry-stone walls, and almond and carob groves define the landscape. It is one of the few areas of the island where traditional Mallorcan rural life remains genuinely intact rather than curated for visitors.
Daily life centres on Algaida’s small market and local restaurants, including Es 4 Vents, a well-regarded roadside restaurant on the Palma-Manacor road known across the island. The weekly market in Llucmajor, roughly ten minutes by car, covers fresh produce and local goods. Palma’s full range of dining, cultural institutions, and international schools is under forty minutes away.
Algaida sits directly on the Ma-15 highway connecting Palma to Manacor, placing the capital approximately thirty-five minutes away by car. Palma de Mallorca Airport is around twenty-five kilometres from the municipality, reachable in under thirty minutes, and operates year-round international routes to major European cities including London, Frankfurt, Barcelona, and Amsterdam, with significantly expanded connections from April through October.
