Saint-Tropez occupies a singular position on the French Riviera, a small Var peninsula town that has carried international cultural weight since the mid-twentieth century. Its old fishing village core, the Ponche quarter, and the Place des Lices retain genuine architectural and social character beneath the seasonal glamour. The port, the citadel, and the Annonciade museum give the town a layered identity that extends well beyond its reputation as a summer destination for the European elite.

Daily life centres on the Place des Lices market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, the port-side cafés along the Quai Jean Jaurès, and restaurants including Vague d’Or and La Pesquière. The beaches of Pampelonne are a fifteen-minute drive. Ramatuelle and Gassin are within ten minutes by car.

Saint-Tropez has no rail connection. The nearest train station is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres away, with regular TGV services to Paris in roughly four hours. A seasonal ferry links the port directly to Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime. Toulon-Hyères airport is around 60 kilometres west, and Nice Côte d’Azur international airport, the primary hub for transatlantic and European connections, is approximately 100 kilometres east, typically 90 minutes by road outside peak season.
